Welcome to the website of Miao Xi Buddhist Centre
When entering this site, you may naturally feel a sense of Dharma joy.

The Miao Xi Buddhist Centre was founded on March 7, 2025.

Its Tibetan name, ཐུབ་བསྟན་དགའ་ཚལ་གླིང་ (Thubten Gatsal Ling), and its English name, Thubten Gatsal Ling, were graciously bestowed with blessings from the sacred seat of Palpung Institute by His Holiness the 12th Tai Situ Rinpoche. We have translated this name into Chinese as 「妙喜佛學會」 (Miao Xi Buddhist Society).



With its lineage stemming from the Kagyu tradition,  the Miao Xi Buddhist Centre promotes both the Sutrayana and Vajrayana teachings of  Buddhism.

The centre's main Sutrayana practice is based on The Great Liberation Sutra.

A brief explanation of the merits of practicing the Great Liberation Sutra:

  1. Severing the Root of Samsaric Suffering
    The Great Liberation Sutra directly reveals the profound methods to dispel ignorance and eradicate afflictions. Through its practice we become free from suffering, attains true happiness, and realizes the peace of Nirvana.
    The supreme fruition of this practice is ultimate liberation—freedom from all future suffering and rebirth.
  2. Purifying Innumerable Past Karmic Offenses
    The sutra proclaims that upholding its teachings and devoted recitation can eradicate the heavyarmic misdeeds accumulated over countless lifetimes as well especially those misdeeds born from greed, anger, and ignorance.
  3. Gathering Boundless Merit and Wisdom
    This practice not only amasses vast merit—bringing material well-being and the wholesome fruits of human and celestial realms—but also nurtures the growth of prajna-wisdom, hastening the practitioner’s journey toward enlightenment.
  4. Receiving the Blessings and Protection of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas
    Sacred texts affirm that those who recite this sutra will be blessed and guarded by Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Dharma-Protectors’ deities, shielding them from misfortunes, calamities, and obstructive forces.
  5. A Peaceful Passing and Rebirth in Pure Lands
    Those who hold this sutra with reverence throughout life will, at the moment of passing, be blessed with clear mindfulness, become free from the destiny of lower realms, and gain the auspicious opportunity to be reborn in the pure Buddha lands.
  6. Benefiting All Beings and Dedicating Infinite Merit
    By dedicating the merit from reciting, transcribing, or disseminating this sutra to all sentient beings, one benefits beings without measure and fulfills the compassionate conduct of the Bodhisattva path.
    Proclaiming and sharing this sutra widely establishes unbreakable bonds of liberation with countless beings.
